In October 2020, after a long preparatory work, an investment project KA11022 'Improvement of water resource management in the Northern Ladoga border region' was launched. It is aimed at the reconstruction of water supply and sanitation systems in the village of Kaalamo in the Sortavalsky district of the Republic of Karelia. Thanks to the joint work of Karelvodokanal LLC and the Finnish environmental Institute, the village will have a ground water intake, and the environmental load will be reduced not only in the Tohmajoki river, but also in the Ladoga and the Baltic Sea basins.
Preparation of the project application began in the second half of 2019 and was conducted in close cooperation between the project partners and ANO Energy Efficiency Center. In December 2019, the project application was submitted for consideration to the Managing authprity of the Karelia CBC Programme and, along with 4 other applications, made a bid for grant funds in the total amount of 5 million euros.
In the spring of 2020, the project was approved for funding, and long-term preparations for signing of the grant contract began. ANO EEC took an active part in the negotiation process and preparation of additional documentation. The result was the signing of a grant contract for about 2.9 million euros.
It is worth noting that this project was preceded by a long history of productive cooperation, dating back to 2010.
